SuperintendentPuyallup School District staff,

I hope that each of us had some time to spend with friends and family, as well as some time to rest and reflect on the very fine work that we do collectively educating and supporting the students of our community.

First and foremost as we look forward to 2015, on behalf of the Puyallup School Board, I wish to extend a note of thanks and appreciation for the very professional manner in which the work of educating students and helping them grow takes place in our district.

As you are well aware, the support that students receive along their educational journey has led to record numbers of families moving to our community. In 2015, in addition to our continual focus on improving our practice educationally, we must also take on the task of educating community members about the needs for additional educational space, particularly in our elementary schools.

The new year will likely bring with it some very specific legislative changes as well. In fact there are a number of legislative requirements passed in previous sessions that we are working on presently (online assessments, 24 credit graduation requirements, TPEP, etc.).

While it can be a challenge to support students and families every day in such a positive way and move several additional initiatives forward, I am deeply confident in the capacity of instructional and support staff, school leaders, department and district leadership, and our community to come together and improve our district moving forth.

Again, thank you for your commitment to Puyallup students and your daily work to support their learning and growth.

Here's looking forward to great things together in 2015!

Dr. Timothy S. Yeomans Superintendent Puyallup SD
